I believe in the freedom of speech. I am a thinking, rational person. I have my own set of morals and values, and, yes, I do find several things that other people do as offensive and/or disgusting. Personally, I don't see vile speech as infectious and in need to inoculate myself by killing it as a "virus of the mind."
Being a liberal doesn't mean I have to accept everything thrown at me. On the contrary, I have a very discriminating brain, which is skeptical but open. Being a liberal also means that we can tolerate expressions we don't like. This is our difference with the "Taliban of all stripes" everywhere. The Al Qaeda type wants to kill everything they don't like; the American "Taliban" wants to ban everything they don't like. We liberals laugh at and boycott stuff we don't like
